Sensorimotor rehabilitation is the treatment
of overactive or purposeless sensory functions. It studies senses
of sight, touch, balance, and hearing and maps out so called
childhood primitive reflexes that might cause many of the states
of sensory imbalance. |
In practice sensory problems might affect in following ways:
• Hearing and understanding instructions is difficult
• Spelling is difficult
• Understanding text is hard and reading is slow
• Speech is defective
• Restlessness and weakness of concentration
• Motoric and balance problems, clumsiness and weak co-ordination
skill
Sensorimotor rehabilitation is beneficial to those who are affected
by these imbalances for instance people with speech or hearing impediments
(dysphasia), learning difficulties (dyslexia),motoric problems,
hyperactivity or over activeness of the senses (f. ex. autistic
and handicap people).
REHABILITATION
The effectiveness of sensorimotor rehabilitation is based on daily
repetitive exercising of senses that affect learning and development-skills.
The overall time of treatment is six to nine months. Examinations
are done at our reception but lots of the practical therapy is conducted
at home.
